Ive been looking through the wonderful blogs that I follow and can honestly say that there are some simply stunning black and white images, so much so that they have inspired me to look a little closer and experiment with converting from colour. So, seeing as it has been a total washout of a weekend with some of the worst weather I have seen in a while I have recruited some models from my kitchen to work on! I have added the original colour image as well as the black and white version, again editing is not my forte or my preference but in this case I quite like the fact that the highlights and edges of the water droplets are really lifted against the contrasting darker areas, yet the original softness of the subject remains…ps Ive added a few images today seeing as I missed yesterday!!!

Now have you ever really looked at the lotions and potions on your bathroom shelf? Apart from when you buy them and perhaps read the labels, or pick them up to use them….we never really look at them, they are just there. This particular squeezy bottle caught my eye yesterday but I didnt really rate it as a potential blog shot but this morning I looked again and thought that it was actually quite interesting in as much as the bubbles are quite static and dont appear to be in a hurry to move! So I zoomed in using the macro setting on my lens and then ran it through PS simply to enhance the form of the bubbles, adding a hint of colour along the way (not bad for a PS novice!!).
Tonight seems to be rushing past and still not had my dinner so Im going to be fairly quick about it. Tonights shot is simple, but wasnt simple to shoot! After trying various light positioning and camera settings but still avoiding auto I hasten to add, I managed to grab a couple of shots, the effect wasnt quite as I expected but I like it none the less! If anyone else has tried to shoot fizzing bubbles please tell me the secret!!!
