41 Day 194 – The Wizard & The Green Man Forest Wood Carvings in Leicestershire

Following on from yesterdays post I wanted to share these images which were also taken during my ramble around Beacon Hill Country Park in Leicestershire. As I wandered through the woodland area, still following the footpath, I came across  the first of many wood carvings which have been placed in and around the park. I later discovered that he was known as the Green Man by Lorraine Botterill, a chainsaw carver, he made a very imposing figure as you walked around the corner and he came into full view! Further on down the path were 2 more sculptures almost opposite each other, one of them being known as The Wizard! I agree that he really does have a look of wizardry about him! There are many more wood sculptures around the park by another chainsaw carver Peter Leadbeater who also has a workshop on location and these are amazingly detailed carvings which must have taken hours and hours of patience. A wonderful way to use timber from the woods and a great spectacle as you wander around a very special Leicestershire location.
